Who's behind therubyconnection?
therubyconnection is proudly supported by Westpac Banking Corporation, through Women's Markets; a standalone business unit of Westpac Business Banking. Westpac has sponsored the development and ongoing running of the site, as part of its commitment to Australian Women in Business.
Westpac decided long ago to be a driving force behind the emergence of women in business in Australia. The bank provides opportunities for women to grow personally and professionally through leadership, education and networking; as well as through the establishment of a dedicated business unit with Women's Markets Managers in each state.
therubyconnection is a natural online extension of this commitment and support which we hope will help time poor businesswomen to learn, grow and connect.
Why does therubyconnection ask us to join?
It's very important that therubyconnection is a safe and confidential service for women in business. If that security is ever compromised, we won't have a trustworthy (and therefore effective) way for women to connect and share their knowledge, experiences, insights, questions and opinions.
By joining, you register your identity and your commitment to the principles of therubyconnection, provide a confirmed email contact, and agree to the rules outlined in the site's terms and conditions.
And by only allowing registered members to take part in the forums, blogs and other two-way channels, we can help protect the rights and privacy of all our members.
Are my details safe?
We do take privacy and security extremely seriously. Your membership details are stored on Westpac's own secure servers and are protected by Westpac's corporate privacy policy. So yes, they are very safe.
We ask you to complete a full membership profile, so that we can identify you and communicate with you properly if necessary. You have complete control over which details you'd like made public, via your ruby business card public profile and the ruby directory business listing. That way, you have control over the levels at which you connect and communicate with other members.
How do I use the forums?
The forums are very simple to use - most of the buttons for posting, replying and starting new threads are self-explanatory. Of course, only logged-in members of therubyconnection can actually contribute, so that input only comes from women who have registered their details and committed to the terms and conditions of the service.
